How to Enhance Lock Keys
Caps and Num Lock keys are in fact useful keys. But not when you're typing an e-mail message and press Caps Lock instead
of Tab and your e-mail start SCREAMING. I Hate This Key will deal with this problem.
If you want your Num Lock to never on or never off, I Hate This Key will help you too.
I Hate This Key will also help you to ensure the state of Lock keys when you start your Windows session.
Use Key drop down box to choose a Lock key to enhance.
Select Never radio button if you want to disable Caps Lock or Num Lock key at all.
If you want to turn on Caps Lock or Num Lock key by double-clicking this key, select Only when I
double-click this key radio button. Set double-click speed to the value that will suit you, using
Double-click speed slider.
You can add some delay to Caps Lock or Num Lock key press by selecting Only when I hold this key
during some time. To activate Lock key you'll need to press and hold this key for some time. The amount of time
for holding the key can be set using Delay amount slider.
If you do not want I Hate This Key Deluxe Edition to counteract the Caps Lock or Num Lock key, select
Always radio button.
I Hate This Key can beep when you press Lock key to add some feedback to your action. Select Beep
on Lock toggle check box if you want it.
Use Lock is on at startup check box to ensure the state of the Lock key when you start your
Windows session. Select this check box if you want your Num Lock to be on at startup and clear the check box if you
want to ensure that Caps Lock is off.
Some useful tips:
- If you want your Num Lock to be never off, select Lock is on at startup check box and
Never radio button for Num Lock.
- If you want your Caps Lock to be never on, clear Lock is on at startup check box and select
Never radio button for Caps Lock.
If you use double-click or delay option for your Lock keys, then you can adjust amount of time for double-click or
delay using sliders Double-click speed and Delay amount.
Note for Microsoft Natural keyboards users: Num Lock indicator on your keyboard can show wrong state of the key when
using I Hate This Key. For example, the light can be on when in fact Num Lock is off. It's a known issue and it doesn't
affect I Hate This Key enhancements for your keyboard.
